- Senses workshop for schools
A full day workshop exploring the five senses, this ties in with KS1 curriculum and is ideal for schools running 'Senses' as a topic. The workshop runs from 10-2.30pm and location is flexible so we can either come to your venue or we can arrange the venue close to our cookery schools.
The children begin the day by making pizza dough and exploring 'touch' by mixing and kneading the bread, they also take part in a yeast experiment exploring 'sight'. The pizza is then made for the children to eat for lunch along with a fruit muffin using fruit in season. While the food is cooking we run fruit and veg games to identify different items and talk about where they grow and which are fruit and which are veg, using our 'hearing' sense.
After lunch the children take part in a little drama about chocolate and how it grows (it gets a little damp at this point so be warned, well, how do rain forests get their name?), then we have further games exploring 'touch' and finally onto 'taste' and 'smell' with some different ingredients the children have to identify.
Finally the children leave with a bag of extra muffins to take home to share with their family and worksheets relating to the topics covered to complete with their teachers in class, hopefully having had an amazing day.
